About the opportunity
This is an outstanding opportunity for an Equine practitioner with an interest in equine reproduction to work within our centre and advance their career. Reporting jointly to the Head of our Equine Unit and Senior Registrar in Reproduction, the Staff Veterinarian- Equine Ambulatory (HE06) / Clinical Veterinary Registrar - Equine Ambulatory (HEO7) position will join the Camden Equine Centre (CEC) team within the UVTHC in providing high quality equine services in an ambulatory setting supporting the hospital-based services as required. The role also has an emphasis on reproduction and we seek someone with membership/s and/or experience/interest in this area of practice.
When outside of the equine breeding season, you will work in the equine ambulatory service each week under the direction of the Equine Unit Head and Senior Lecturer of Equine Practice. This includes participating in a weekly roster covering visits and call outs to clients within the local area for routine and emergency care in the field and during breeding season to equine studs and clients. This role assists in growing the equine unit through the provision of high-quality clinical care, customer service and teaching. When working in the equine reproduction and ambulatory service you will be involved in the supervision and clinical teaching of students on rotation. The newly established reproduction clinical service is in its growth phase and therefore it is anticipated that the applicant is also interested and enthusiastic about taking on new clientele and building the service.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- provide high quality clinical treatment to equine clients engaged with our growing reproduction service
- provide high quality clinical treatment and care to equine clients with a focus on ambulatory practice
- provide clinical instruction to veterinary students on rotation to the equine service at Camden
- actively participate in study groups, clinical rounds and journal club
- ensure compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory controls and ensures a safe working environment for all staff and students
- perform work activities related to the role's key accountabilities as approved by the manager and commensurate to the role's classification level.
CEC is recognised as a centre of clinical excellence for equine sports medicine, surgery and ambulatory practice whilst training the veterinarians of the future.

About you

- a Veterinary Degree registrable in NSW
- experience in ambulatory practice
- experience/interest in reproduction - membership qualification is highly desirable, but not essential
- a willingness to be on call and participate in an after-hours roster (additional on call allowance and a generous overtime payment)
- an ability to instruct DVM students effectively
- for the HEO 7 position, a recognised membership qualification in an equine discipline is essential.
