A bit about us…

Nestled amongst the beautiful surrounding mountains; Mt Buffalo, Mt Hotham, and Falls Creek, Bright is the perfect destination for a weekend or a whole week.  Bright is beautiful all year round, from lazy summer afternoons cooling off in the Ovens river, to watching the leaves change colour throughout the seasons.

The Star Hotel has been a favourite for Bright locals and visitors for as long as we can remember. With a great country ‘pub’ menu, laid back bars to enjoy a bevy, event spaces and even trivia and community nights – there’s always something going on at this ol’ pub.

We are now looking for a Sous chef to join our country pub family. 

 

A bit about you….

We are looking for a Sous that has solid pub kitchen experience under their belt.  You will;

  • Ideally have a few years working in a busy pub environment.  Maybe you’re a CDP ready to take your next step?
  • Be able to work under pressure and able to take and give direction
  • Be competent and flexible to work all sections of the kitchen
  • Have good interpersonal, communication, and time management skills
  • Assist the head chef with weekly duties including ordering, menu planning including specials and general running of the kitchen
  • You will have a positive attitude and fun approach to you work

 

A bit about the role….

  • Reporting to the Head Chef / Venue Manager, you will assist and support in the daily running of the kitchen
  • You will help manage, train and mentor all kitchen staff
  • You will get to show your creativity through menu ideas and weekly specials
  • You will maintain a positive and professional approach with your colleagues and guests
  • You will help manage the kitchen food costs, stock control, and ordering

  • Sous Chef must have a minimum 2 years’ full-time experience with relevant Diploma or higher. 
  • Without formal qualification, at least 3 years fulltime experience
  • Annual Salary $70,000 - $80,000 per annum
