Position overview: 

Car Automotive is seeking a skilled and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional who is passionate about the automotive industry and eager to advance their career within a supportive and forward-thinking company.

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance and servicing, including oil changes, brake inspections, and engine diagnostics, across a variety of prestige vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues using advanced diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify potential problems and ensure all repairs meet the highest standards.
  • Replace or repair defective components, including engines, brakes, steering systems, and suspension parts.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and regulations, ensuring compliance in every aspect of mechanical work.
  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed, effectively communicating details with the service team regarding costs and timelines.
  • Keep tools and workshop equipment in optimal condition while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by clearly explaining repair processes and addressing customer inquiries when needed.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in automotive technology and diagnostic techniques to enhance service quality.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Trade qualification as a Motor Mechanic (Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the automotive industry.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for detecting faults in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
  • Knowledge of various vehicle makes and models, including petrol and diesel engines.
  • Physically fit to remove and refit major components using workshop equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced workshop environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and KPIs while maintaining service excellence.
  • Understanding of roadworthy inspections.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Own set of tools.

Preferred but Not Essential:

  • Experience with European vehicle programming and testing using original diagnostic software/tools.
  • Ability to remove and fit tyres.
  • Experience performing wheel alignments using the latest Hofmann wheel aligner (training provided if experienced with other systems).

Remuneration will be discussed with the successful applicant, negotiated by experience and will reflect current market conditions and industry award rates.
