About The Role:

Reporting to the Media and Corporate Communications Manager (MCC). 

You will support the General Manager Marketing and the MCC Manager in the implementation and management of all industry–related Public Relations strategies and future proofing the growth of the Kia Australia (KAU) brand and market positioning. 

Furthermore, you will be creating and managing all components of lifestyle, sponsorship and community media, and public relations opportunities and strategies, while working closely with relevant agencies.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Build and foster relationships within the automotive and other related media (i.e. lifestyle and community media) industries
  • Development of lifestyle public relations strategies and plans for Kia in Australia 
  • Management of lifestyle media for Kia in Australia, including but not restricted to writing and distribution of press releases, and management of press opportunities and interviews
  • Management of Public Relations for sponsorships, including integration with the digital marketing team on a program to leverage and support Kia’s sponsorship of the Australian Open
  • The development and management of agency relationships 
  • Assist the MCC Manager in planning and effectively implementing new product launches to the media with a particular focus on the preparation and logistics involved with the fleet of launch vehicles
  • Manage, in consultation with key stakeholders and the MCC Manager, the Press Evaluation Fleet ensuring vehicles in all states are utilised to their maximum effectiveness in generating positive publicity. This will require:
    • Effective management of press car loans to the media – both through making proactive bookings and in response to bookings requests 
    • Effective liaison with suppliers and key stakeholders to ensure all press vehicles are ordered, delivered, prepared and ready for collection on required times, loan forms and information materials are completed for each vehicle and vehicles are removed from the fleet in accordance with the company fleet policy 
    • Liaise regularly with suppliers and media regarding both pick-up and drop off stages
  • Reporting, invoicing and other administrative tasks relating to the press fleet
  • Provide support across all administrative duties (planning, invoicing, reporting and general daily/weekly/monthly media monitoring) for the MCC Manager

What we’re looking for?

  • An interest in the Automotive industry
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Public Relations or Marketing / Communications role within a commercial environment 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications majoring in Public Relations; or a Diploma in a related discipline; or a history of strong performance in a similar role within the industry
  • Holds a current driver’s license and able to drive vehicles with manual transmission
