Maintenance Team Member

St Andrew's is seeking a fulltime dedicated and reliable maintenance professional to join our Maintenance team.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will support the maintenance team across our North Coast facilities, including two sites in Byron Bay and one in Ballina. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the high-quality execution of general facility care and maintenance tasks. This is a full-time role, will require travel between all three sites to effectively manage maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections of the facility.
- Ensure the safety, comfort, and overall well-being of our residents by promptly addressing identified repair needs.
- Assist with maintaining facility grounds, outdoor areas and internal areas to ensure cleanliness and safety.
- Complete work orders and respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly and efficiently.
- Assist with all maintenance tasks as needed, including minor repairs and maintenance of plumbing systems.
- Assist with setting up rooms, moving furniture, and handling light construction tasks as needed.
- General room repairs including patching of gyprock and painting walls, fitting door handles etc.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be eligible to work in Australia.
- Willing to undergo a criminal record check in line with Aged Care Act requirements (arranged at no cost to you).
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following:
- Light Rigid (LR) license (Medium Rigid (MR) license is an advantage but not essential.
- A preference for candidates who are a qualified or licensed plumber.
- Proven experience as a handyman, maintenance worker, or in a similar role.
- A team player with the ability to self-manage your workload and adapt swiftly to changing priorities.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repair work.
- Ability to work independently, show initiative, and manage a variety of tasks.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills (written & verbal).
- A mature, respectful and compassionate attitude.
- Willingness to work across multiple sites, including Ballina and Byron Bay.
- The ability to work in high volume environment whilst managing multiple priorities with conflicting deadlines
- A positive contribution to the workplace culture.
- Own, reliable transport.
