A full-time Indian tandoor and curry chef position is available at Embers In The Village which is located in Wollongong, NSW. The job applicant must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in Indian cuisine, along with the right qualifications. An award-winning wage package of $75,000–$80,000 (depending on experience) will be provided to the candidate.

Requirements:

  • Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery with at least 2 years of experience.
  • Prepare a wide range of meals from the menu, with a focus on Indian cuisine.
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food before use.
  • Contribute to improving the menu list, kitchen facility, and business of the restaurant.
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and a food preparation checklist.
  • Prepare meat and non-vegetarian dishes and salads.
  • Prepare Indian dishes.
  • Undertake portion control practices, arrange, and garnish food according to the creative ethos of the kitchen.
  • Store food in temperature-controlled facilities.
  • Provide input in the creation of seasonal menus and new recipes.
  • Season and cook food according to recipes or your own experience and knowledge.
  • Help with stock management including, ordering, rotation, and wastage control.
  • Ensure wastage is kept to a minimum.
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen.

Skills:

  • Skilled in preparing, seasoning, and cooking food according to recipes.
  • Understanding of food safety and OHS requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of Indian cuisine.
  • be able to work under pressure in a busy kitchen.
  • be a motivated individual who has a passion for cooking.

The successful candidate will be career-focused and have a passion for the hospitality industry. A work visa can be provided for this role.
