The Role

The Hospital Contract Manager is responsible for providing customers of Honeysuckle Health with sustained value, choice and quality through the negotiation of complex or specific agreements with hospital and health service providers, which, through relationship development focus on representing the best value for money to customers, improve member outcomes and drive excellence in service delivery by providers.

In addition to the contracting with hospitals through the development of deep relationships,the Contract Manager is responsible for managing and delivering on project work as agreed with the National Manager. Projects are key to internal improvements at Honeysuckle Health or its customers.

The role reports to the National Manager Hospital Networks.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial negotiations on behalf of internal stakeholders and include relevant Subject Matter Expert, as required, to achieve optimal outcomes. 
  • Act as technical advisor and subject matter expert on contract terms, rules and financial impacts to the customers of Honeysuckle Health.
  • Actively look for opportunities and make recommendations for business and process improvements. 
  • Assist in resolving elevated and complex provider contract service complaints as they relate to contractual terms and interpretation. Research problems and negotiate with internal/external partners/customers to resolve highly complex and/or escalated and sensitive issues.
  • Research, analyse and develop understand of key market drivers and influences which impact and influence outcomes of a commercial negotiation. Incorporate these drivers and understanding into the negotiation strategy and educate internal stakeholders on these drivers. 
  • Prepare, analyse, review, and project financial impact of hospital or health service provider contracts and present this analysis in a format that key stakeholders can easily consume and understand.

 

Required

  • Must be tertiary educated with a degree in Business, Management, Marketing, Communications, or demonstrated relevant industry experience 
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal. 
  • Able to facilitate workshops and document outcomes.
  • The ability to think logically and recommend process improvement opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage internal and external providers/suppliers
  • Strong relationship development and management skills

 

Preferred

Experience in private health insurance, life insurance, general insurance, financial or health services.
