Position Overview
The Fundraising & Community Engagement Coordinator plays a critical role in expanding Westmead Hospital Foundation’s (WHF) fundraising capacity and increasing community engagement through innovative events. This role is responsible for developing and implementing targeted fundraising strategies that align with WHF's mission, generating vital funds to support our healthcare and patient services. Additionally, the Coordinator will be responsible for planning and executing community engagement events aimed at enhancing WHF’s brand profile, fostering a positive internal culture, and driving engagement with donors, partners, and the wider community.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising:
- Develop, coordinate, and execute fundraising initiatives and campaigns that align with WHF’s strategic objectives.
- Identify opportunities for community and corporate engagement to grow WHF's donor base and secure financial support.
- Maintain and grow relationships with current donors and supporters through regular communication and tailored fundraising appeals.
- Research and apply for grants or sponsorships that align with WHF's goals.
- Monitor fundraising performance, tracking key metrics such as return on investment (ROI), donor retention, and acquisition.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create fundraising communications, ensuring alignment with WHF’s brand and mission.
Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain relationships with community groups, sponsors, and stakeholders to encourage their support for WHF’s initiatives.
- Engage with donors and potential supporters through events and fundraising campaigns, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.
- Represent WHF at community and networking events to promote the organisation’s mission and work.
Key Requirements
- Fundraising Experience: Proven experience in fundraising (3-5 years), including planning, implementing, and evaluating successful fundraising initiatives.
- Community Experience: Demonstrated ability to liaise with people from varying walks of life.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for different audiences.
- Social Media & Marketing: Experience in leveraging social media and digital marketing to promote fundraising campaigns and events.
- Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Autonomous Work Style: Ability to work independently and take initiative while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Values-Driven: Commitment to WHF’s mission, with a passion for improving healthcare outcomes through philanthropy.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least three years’ experience in fundraising, account management, or donor relationship roles.
- Proven ability to meet financial targets through strategic planning and relationship building.
- Experience with fundraising software (e.g., Salesforce, Fundraisin).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; capable of working independently and in a team.
- Reliable transportation and/or a valid driver’s licence (preferred).
- An understanding of the health landscape would be greatly valued but is not essential.
