The opportunity We are seeking experienced Fitters and Turners to join various manufacturing and industrial operations. These roles are essential in maintaining production efficiency and quality standards through skilled machining, fitting, and assembly work.

As a Fitter and Turner, you will be responsible for manufacturing, assembling, and maintaining precision mechanical components and equipment. Your expertise in both fitting and turning operations will be crucial in ensuring the production of high-quality components and the smooth operation of manufacturing equipment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture precision components using lathes, milling machines, and other precision equipment
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to produce components to exact tolerances
  • Fit, assemble, and align mechanical parts and subassemblies for production machinery
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement effective solutions
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimise manufacturing processes
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards and safety requirements

 

About you

  • Certification and Experience: You hold a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting and Turning) or equivalent qualification, with proven experience in precision manufacturing, preferably in heavy industry settings
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in operating conventional and CNC machinery, excellent understanding of engineering principles, and expertise in using precision measuring instruments
  • Soft Skills: Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills for collaborating with team members
  • Adaptability: Capable of working on various projects and adapting to different manufacturing requirements and environments
  • Licenses and Certifications: Current driver's license required, forklift license advantageous
