The Role

Are you experienced Hotel Accountant looking for the next step of your career?  

Come and join our team as Finance Manager role for Amora Melbourne and have a flexibility to work remotely from Sydney or base onsite in Melbourne

  • Sponsorship offers to the right candidate
  • Base salary range $95,000 - $100,000 per year + Super + KPIs bonus

This hands-on role is responsible for the full end to end accounting of the hotel and managing a small team to supervise Accounts Payable, Account Receivable and Store Person. 

The role requires a strong team player who can work with diverse stakeholders across all levels, both internally and externally.  Partnering closely with the Hotel Manager and Department Heads, this role will coach, educate and advise to improve knowledge and make good commercial decisions across the business. You will have a passion for outcomes and contributing to a high-performance team in all aspects of accounting and finance across the Hotel. 

This role reports directly to the Hotel Manager with dotted line to Group Financial Controller.  

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibility for the timely preparation and accurate reporting of financial results for Amora Riverwalk Melbourne including but not limited to: 

  • Perform a comprehensive analytical review each month of financial results, delivering insightful information to the Leadership Team
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis 
  • Ensure the accuracy in revenue journals, prepayments, accrual and bank reconciliation
  • Process weekly payroll and share performance against budget with Department Heads in collaboration with Hotel manager.
  • Prepare and monitor the annual budget in collaboration with Hotel Manager and HODs
  • Share other financial insights with Department Heads to assist in their financial forecast and planning 
  • Ensure a disciplined financial control environment throughout the Hotel.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous Hotel Accountant experience within the hotel with Food & Beverage outlets is preferred
  • Critical and analytical thinker (influencing, problem solving and reconciliation experience)
  • Previous team management experience and demonstrated ability to mentor junior finance members
  • Experience in establishing processes and improving the control environment within organisations
  • Exceptional accuracy, financial analysis capabilities and a commercial mindset
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills 
  • Qualifications in Finance/Accounting or related field required
  • CA/CPA Qualification is preferred
  • Microsoft Office (Advanced level Excel skills including use of Charts, Pivot tables and lookup formula) 
  • Previous experience with Xero, SUN, Deputy, Wage Easy, Purchase Plus and Opera hotel management system preferred
