About the Opportunity
The Events Lead is a key role within the City Activation department, and contributes to the objectives of the community plan through family and community, vibrant economy and cultural diversity. The role has strategic oversight and leadership, ensuring all events are delivered to the highest standard. The role collaborates closes across the organisation, and external stakeholders including local businesses, state and federal government agencies and community organisations. This hands-on role coordinates end to end event management to design, plan and deliver a wide range of programs and activities, from small to large scale indoor and outdoor events. Reporting to the City Activation Manager, the Events Lead will manage a small team and is responsible for the project management and operational duties for a range of programs, activities and events.
The role will be responsible for the following, but not limited to;
- Develop, maintain and deliver an up-to-date event calendar
- Project manage multiple events simultaneously
- Manage external contractors as required
- Design and deliver all-inclusive events targeted at a diverse audience
- Lead comprehensive risk management practices
- Support the strategic direction of the delivery of Council events
- Administration, financial reporting, and policy maintenance as required
About You
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and considerable practical experience in project management or event management
- Experience in staff supervision, with experience of staff engagement through team mentoring / coaching.
- Demonstrated experience in the coordination and management of events.
- Extensive experience in strategic planning for events, including project plans, marketing plans and setting and monitoring of KPIs and objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to operate at a high strategic level, collaborating effectively with local, state and federal governments, non-government organisations and the community in a collaborative partnership
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills.
- Proven leadership in strategic planning, cross functional team management and experience in project management including proficiency in appropriate software.
- Demonstrated experience in the management of budgets, including the ability to research, attract and monitor sponsorships and grants from public and private sector oragnisations. Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously within a team and autonomously.
