Little Wings is a non-profit organization that provides free, professional, safe flight and ground transport services for seriously ill children in rural and regional NSW, QLD and the ACT. We strive to ease the journey and help sick children access specialised medical services and treatments that are only available in major cities or towns. We do everything we can to support families by easing the financial burden, emotional strain and travel fatigue that they experience due to the long-distance travel associated with receiving vital medical treatment.
Purpose of the Position
The purpose of this role is to successfully manage events for Little Wings, assisting in raising both funds and awareness for our mission. Little Wings have hosted events over many years, however, we are looking to expand the fundraising potential via events, identifying key opportunities and delivering to a high quality.
Key Accountabilities
- Strategic identification of event opportunities, partnerships and fundraising.
- Overseeing all aspects of events, from large to small, and ensuring delivery to a high level, with quality and sensory experience at the forefront.
- Working closely with safety to ensure the safety and engagement of all internal and external stakeholders partaking in all aspects of event delivery (includes risk assessments and policy development).
- Sponsor engagement and opportunity.
- Coordinate and execute all event logistics ensuring clear communication with all stakeholders and timelines met.
- Regularly meet and liaise with key stakeholders in a timely manner and document such communications.
- Develop of sponsorship packages and securement of well aligned and relevant corporate sponsors.
- Development of a fundraising event budget including fundraising targets and expenses
- Complete a risk assessment of the event ensuring all relevant risks are documented and addressed
- Ensure all necessary permits, approvals and insurances are obtained in a timely manner
- Develop and execute a marketing plan for events.
- Develop and execute a communication plan for the events including communication with participants pre and post the event, and media campaign.
- Engage, liaise and negotiate with relevant suppliers to build relationships and seek the best price point for delivery.
- Development of relevant merchandise items for the events.
- Work in partnership with the Volunteers Manager to ensure positive engagement of volunteers ensuring volunteers are fully briefed and prepared with clear roles and responsibilities.
- Provide regular updates to Little Wings CEO and COO of progress of event and any deviations from the event management plan.
- Communication efficiently and consistently with the Little Wings CFO to ensure financial targets are achieved.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Qualifications in event management, PR, communications, journalism, marketing or similar relevant field
- Minimum of 5 years extensive event management experience
- Experience on the not-for-profit sector desirable
- Excellent written and oral communication and organisation skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Business development skills
- Ability to be innovative and creative, to generate ideas and think positively
Other requirements of the role:
• Successful applicants will be required to undertake Working with Children and National Criminal Records Checks
