This role has arisen from operational gaps that require a skilled Commercial Manager to bring cohesion and work collaboratively with the operations and senior management teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting, leading, managing, and mentoring staff while overseeing all aspects of their role. You will ensure efficient performance in a fast-paced environment, fostering staff engagement and support to drive the overall success and progress of the business. Key areas of oversight in this position will include:

Financial Management & reporting 

Tendering management – Contract & Supplier agreements

IT System support 

Legal & Compliance Management of Accounts Team 

 

Job Responsibilities – 

 

Financial Management and Reporting:

  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Manage financial projects, ensuring accurate tracking of expenses and revenue.
  • Drive improvements in end-to-end accounting practices.
  • Provide financial insights on market trends, scenario planning, and modelling to drive value and address financial risk.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify performance drivers and recommend improvement strategies.
  • Support business growth by identifying and addressing areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.

 

Supplier, Contract and Tender Management:

  • Negotiate and finalise contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, 
  • Procure necessary services and resources, negotiating costs. 
  • Complete all tenders.

 

IT systems and Support:

  • Oversee and manage the entire IT department.
  • Manage the implementation and integration of new and existing technologies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees encountering IT issues, coordinating with software providers and external IT specialists. 
  • Manage and organise email addresses for new staff members.
  • Organize technology for new staff, ensure necessary mobile devices are set up, and all required forms are processed.
  • Ensure adequate user licenses and assist in setting up company apps.
  • Oversee and maintain the company CRM system. 
  • Implement and manage automated credit account application forms.
  • Investigate, make recommendations, and implement technologies to enhance business operations and profitability, such as the integration of credit card surcharge systems.

Legal and Compliance Management:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant construction laws, regulations, and industry standards processes, ensure systems are continually developed by staff.
  • Conduct compliance audits and ensure adherence to legal standards policies.
  • Develop and oversee training programs to enhance compliance awareness and practices within the team.
  • Stay updated on Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and best practices, advising management on impacts, and required actions. 
  • Develop and manage the WHS and handle site audit recommendations.
  • Investigate and implement Australian Standards and Quality Assurance.
  • Represent and lead the business in commercial and legal matters, coordinating with external legal teams to manage risk.
  • Stay informed about updates to legal terms and conditions and collaborate with our external legal team to apply relevant changes and enhancements. 
  • Implement improvements to existing legal terms and conditions in contracts to ensure maximum coverage and protection.

 

Staff and Process Management:

 

  • Provide leadership to the accounts team through effective communication, decision support, mentoring and direction.
  • Enhance the performance of the accounts team by identifying and implementing effective strategies for improvement.
  • Monitor, manage and review staff dashboards and checklists, ensure accounts staff complete their allocated tasks and assist staff where necessary.
  • Manage employee credit card usage by establishing and enforcing guidelines for appropriate use.
  • Provide training to new and existing staff members within your team.
  • Assist in the recruitment process for new accounting team members, shortlist applicants, conduct interviews, submit details to HR to put forward an offer.
  • Complete inductions for new team members ensuring all required information is completed and uploaded to their file.
  • Conduct staff performance, probation, and annual reviews for your team.
  • Coordinate, manage, and drive the month-end procedures in collaboration with the accounts team, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Certain aspects of this role will arise periodically. In discussions with management, we have outlined the primary responsibilities of the position below, with a percentage breakdown to highlight the key functions.

 

IT system Support – 40%

Financial Management – 20%

Legal compliance – 20%

Contract and Tender management – 10%

Staff management – 10%

Candidate Requirements – 

  • 5 + years in a similar role within Earthmoving or Hire 
  • Degree in Finance, accounting, MBA, or CPA 
  • IT system experience in running and operating Bolt on programmers and supporting staffing issues through IT support. 
  • Strong analytical experience in reading market trends, financial reporting, IT technical data and contract management. 
  • Solution solver with excellent fault finding and proven leadership to guide, direct and support the team through technical issues. 
  • People’s leader that can mentor and drive success through the team

Salary Package –

On offer is a lucrative earning potential, this is negotiable depending on your experience and if you tick all the required boxes of the job description. We are looking for someone that can really hit the ground running and invest in the business in the long term.

Working Hours – 

8:00am to 4:30pm – Monday to Friday with Flexible WFH
